Global brand rankings encapsulate all categories in all countries in all industries whereas industry rankings focus on a specific category in all countries. In general, since the global, universal brand rankings cover all industries, a high rank in the global rankings is more often than not more important than a better rank in an industry ranking.

Design Brand Rankings follow a meritocratic process where brands nominate their products, services, projects and offerings for awards consideration, in which the nominated works are peer-reviewed and voted on pre-established criteria by a big jury panel of academics, journalists and industry specialists, before which presentations are standardized and after which scores are normalized, to ensure the nominated designs are voted intrinsically on their design qualities. Based on jury voting, the designs are assigned Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron tier achievements with distinct base score for each achievement. Considering an 8-year product lifecycle, a reverse exponential growth function is considered when multiplying the base scores to calculate time-relevant scores, finally scores are all counted and brands are ranked for their overall success. Brands that wish to get listed in the Brand Design Rankings need to follow standardized presentation guidelines and nominate their designs for the A' Design Awards consideration which runs and manages the rankings. Brands who have award-winning designs will be included in the Brand Design Rankings free of charge.
